5 to 20 mins

The operational reality: where you're stuck, what you've already tried, what's costing you the most.

20 to 30 mins

The pattern: what James has seen elsewhere, the two or three actions that would move the needle, and whether a fractional engagement makes sense.

Where this engagement model works best

The model is not right for every business. The 30 minutes ends with a candid view either way, including when a different model would serve you better.

  • Best fit: founder-led product, ecommerce or marketplace business, £1m to £20m turnover, operationally stretched, with a clear next-stage growth ambition.
  • Possible fit: pre-£1m business with a clear growth trajectory and a specific operational project that needs senior thinking applied.
  • Different model probably better: businesses that need short-term advisory only, or where the gap is strategic rather than operational. We will say so on the call and point you in the right direction.
